Spring Break Fun 2014

26 Mar

This year we didn’t having any big plans for Spring Break and whatever we did do, we wanted it to be low cost.

To kick off our Spring Break fun, we went to a friend’s daughter’s birthday party at the skating rink! I don’t think it was my kids first time roller skating but I can’t tell you when the last time it was that they skated!

Fun, fun, fun!!!

Isn’t that just the coolest picture of all the skates?? My fave! Yes, I’m proud!

Happy Birthday, Nataliah!

I couldn’t get any good pictures of them actually skating without it being blurry so I had to make them pose, which as you can see, Jeremiah isn’t digging too much!

We hung out at my friend Ami’s house and she taught me how to do a really cute bun on my daughters hair!

image

I did one on my niece, too!

image

Super cute, hu!?!? I think so, too!

We also celebrate my SIL’s 35th birthday! It was supposed to be a surprise but we can never keep anything from her because she’s a nosey rosey!! Lol

image

Yes, that’s a sewing machine cake!

She just recently inherited her grandmother’s sewing matching so she’s been sewing it up lately!!!

Hey! If you want to order some really super cute coffee cozy’s just let me know and I’ll give you her info!

If you’re wondering why her hubby is holding a lighter it’s BC yours truly forgot the candles!

image

…. And yes, she blew out the candle… Ahem, I mean, the lighter.

Me with the Birthday girl!

Another friend of mine had 2 extra passes to a bounce house place and asked if 2 of my kiddos wanted to join them. Heck yes!!!

Can you say, jump till you can’t jump no more!!! Get out all the wiggles!

As the kids jumped till they got hungry, (literally) Claire & I got to hang out and fellowship!

After we grabbed a bite to eat at ChicfilA, I took Josh to get an ice cream at McDonald’s, because he had a $5 gift card.

Cutie-pie!

Goofy-pie!

… Then I took Jordyn to get a Chocolate Chip FRAP  at Starbuck’s because she won a $10 gift card there, too!!

She went in and ordered it all by herself. She’s growing up so fast!

And as I waited in the van for her, I took a selfie and text it to my hubby!

He liked it. 😀

Another thing we did during our Spring Break is, I introduced my dog, Bo, to my friend’s dog, Gabi.

It was super cute watching them play!

Gabi did a little twirl…show off!! Hehehe

Taking a small break after playing. Look at their tongue hanging out!!

Gabi knocked out after a long day of playing with my Bo.

Gabi wrote him out!!

We had so much fun that day watching our dogs… And kids… Play!

I’ve NEVER been a pet lover. It has a lot to do with the simple fact that we never had pets growing up. Sure we had a cat for a day or two, then for whatever reason we had to get rid of it. But nothing long-term.

We’ve only had Bo for a year and he’s part of the family!

That night we went to another friend’s house and fellowshipped with them and a new family from church who are from Palao.

The kids were outside playing football and once it got dark they came in and played a game of good ‘ol Monopoly!

We talked and talked and talked.

We’ve known her for over 18 years, so you can imaging all the stories that came up. And all the, remember when so and so did this or remember that.

Ahhhh, the good ‘ol days.

It’s weird saying that because when I was younger I remember all the “old” people saying that.

Hmmmmm, what’s really going on here!?!?!

So as you can see, we had a very low cost Spring Break week, but the memories we made and the friendships we shared it with, both new and old, are priceless!

Oh, I almost forgot one more thing I did!
I kinda sorta got on a roll trying to learn new ways to fix my daughters hair, so I did Merida curls on my niece. It was Jordyn’s idea to try it on Madi first because she just LOVES  Merida!

Sweet girl.

Here’s what I did:

Are you ready for this!?!?!?

Wrapped strands of hair in flexible straws!!!

That’s it!

One Stubborn Tear

Look who turned 14 on Monday!! You have no idea (maybe you do?!) how crazy it feels to have a teenager in the house.

I was only married for 4 months when I found out I was pregnant with him.

I had gotten all 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out and I remember the lady who checked me in asking me if I could be pregnant. I assured her that there was no possible way that I could be, since I was on birth control.

So we went on with it. They hooked me up to the IV, knocked me out, and before you know it, they’re wheeling me out in a wheelchair so my friend can drive me home and be on the road to recovery.  Simple as that, Right?

WRONG!

I threw up the whole drive home AND for the next few weeks! My body was trying to tell me something, but I wasn’t hearing it. People all around me kept asking me if I could be pregnant, and my response was always, “No, there was No way!” I kind of started to get annoyed after awhile.

Some time went on and we went on an outreach to Corpus Christi and you’ll never guess what I did the whole way there and back???

Yup, you guessed it… Ummm… for the sake of being too descriptive, let’s just say, I had “morning sickness” that whole entire trip! (and for the next 6 months!)

That’s when it dawned on me, ” Maybe I AM pregnant!?!?!?” (It takes me a while to get things sometimes!)

The next 8 months fly by and before you know it, I’m holding a 5 pound 11 ounce brown hair, brown eyed baby boy, screaming for food. (I should’ve known then that he was gonna be my big eater!!) Lol Till this day, he is ALWAYS hungry… no starving…no joke!

So here we are 14 years from that day celebrating the life of my first child, my son. And my heart couldn’t be more full.

image

Yes, we’ve tasted our first official “teenage year,” where I thought alien’s abducted my precious obedient son, who trusted my every word and never questioned my authority and replaced him with a stubborn, hard headed child!

But miraculously, after lots of prayer and long, frequent father-son talks with dad, and a few bumps & bruises…we survived it! Yay!

He’s changed in so many ways. A few days before his birthday, I had a heart to heart talk with him about guarding his testimony & purity. As we were talking, it dawned on me that my baby is growing up, and yes, i got a little emotional. I tried so hard to hold the tears back, but 1 stubborn tear didn’t listen, and as it rolled down my cheek, i locked eyes with my son, and he just smiled and hugged me.

That is a moment I will forever hold in my heart.

Happy birthday, Son! You may drive me crazy sometimes. You may eat all of our food. And I may not laugh at all of your jokes, but we love you so much and are proud of the young Godly man you’re becoming!
